Scholarships
The º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ offers tuition assistance to students enrolled in the Two-Year Certificate Program through a number of dedicated scholarship funds established by, or in honor of, distinguished alumni and generous friends of the School.

Accepted students will receive scholarship information and instructions with their acceptance and enrollment materials. Students who have questions about eligibility, applications, deadlines, or available awards may contact the Financial Aid Office.
Eligibility
Who May Apply
Accepted 2YC Students
Students who are accepted into the Two-Year Certificate Program and demonstrate financial need are eligible for scholarship funding.
Students should also apply for tuition assistance through federal student aid programs.
Scholarship eligibility, application requirements, award amounts, and deadlines may vary by fund and academic year. Accepted students should refer to the scholarship information provided in their enrollment materials.
First Year Scholarship
For Domestic First Year Students
The Joanne Woodward First Year Scholarship
Established in 2019 to honor world-renowned Academy Award-winning actress and º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ alumna Joanne Woodward. Domestic first year students are eligible to apply.
Second Year Scholarships
The º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ is honored to award the following scholarships to accomplished second-year students who demonstrate financial need.
John Erman Scholarship
Established in 2022 in loving memory of distinguished television director and producer John Erman (1935–2021), who studied with Sanford Meisner. All students invited back to the Second Year are eligible to apply.
Second Year StudentsShannon McMahon Lichte Scholarship
Established in 2024 in loving memory of Shannon McMahon Lichte, producer, writer, actress, director, alumna, board member, and passionate advocate for Playhouse students. All students invited back to the Second Year are eligible to apply.
Second Year StudentsMatt McCoy Scholarship
Established in 2006 in honor of actor, alumnus (1979), board member, and dear friend Matt McCoy. All students invited back to the Second Year are eligible to apply.
Second Year StudentsTony Randall Memorial Scholarship
Established in 2004 in loving memory of Emmy Award-winning actor and º¬Ð߲ݴ«Ã½ alumnus Tony Randall (1920–2004). All students invited back to the Second Year are eligible to apply.
Second Year StudentsWilfred Flores Scholarship
Established in memory of New York City artist Wilfred Flores, the Wilfred Flores Scholarship was created by one of his dearest friends to ensure that his artistic spirit would continue to inspire future generations. It celebrates a life devoted to artistic exploration, exceptional craftsmanship, and the pursuit of authentic human expression.

Establish a Named Scholarship
Endowed Scholarships
An endowed scholarship can be established and named as a donor desires. Donors can establish scholarship criteria. Funds from the named endowment will be awarded each year in perpetuity.
Current-Use Scholarships
Gifts can be earmarked for one-time named scholarship awards. Current-use scholarship donations can be distributed for up to five years. The Playhouse selects award recipients based on the criteria set forth by the donor in the scholarship agreement.
